Tulum Restaurants

The whole vibe and energy, the people, stylish hotels, yoga culture, turquoise water, and especially the food make Tulum one of my absolute favorite travel destinations. I’ve visited this magical place twice, once in March 2015 and then in January 2017. During my second visit, I noticed that Tulum had definitely changed lots in just 2 years, and I can imagine it’s been even more developed and has attracted even more tourists now. I really hope it doesn’t get as exploited as e.g. Playa del Carmen, and actually keeps some of it laidback and authentic vibe, because that is what I think made Tulum such an amazing place. And despite its size and relatively remote location, Tulum really delivers exceptionally when it comes to food in my opinion. I’ve had many extraordinary meals there, and here are some of my favorite restaurants:

Hartwood & Posada Margherita

I might have to say that these two maybe top my list as they you find such an incredible menu and environment here. Hartwood is a bit of a mission to get a table at though as you can’t book in advance and need to stay in line when they open in the afternoon, and they are only open for dinner. Posada Margherita is open all day, and I love to come here for both a juice in the morning and pasta in the evening. The interior here is also wonderful and very Instagram friendly, so these two places are definitely your musts in Tulum!

Raw Love & The Real Coconut Café

I discovered these during my second visit as they are some of the newer additions on the food scene in Tulum. Raw Love is the ultimate breakfast spot for health nuts as their whole menu is plant based, organic, and includes everything from smoothie bowls to fresh juices. The Real Coconut Café uses one specific ingredient in about all of their dishes, and yes it is coconut. The coconut yoghurt with chia pudding and berries are one of my favorite orders there!

Shiva & Nômade

If you like Indian food, a dinner at Shiva is a must! The interior is magical and I love that many tables have cushions as chairs. I loved the curry I had here last time, as well as the naan bread. And best of all, right next to it is an ice cream stand where they sell the most delicious coconut and chocolate & cardamom ice creams! Further south down the main road is Nômade and the vibe here is incredible. You can eat both inside and outside on the beach, and the food is so incredibly delicious, fresh, and healthy. I also loved going here during the days to spend a few hours in a sun bed, order some fresh coconuts to drink, and then have a relaxed dinner right on the beach watching the most magical sunset… Can’t wait to be back soon again!
